But if you’re curious, it starts at £1.1 million, before any customization and MSO goodies. McLaren has released a track-only version of its Senna GT3 race car — one that you can actually buy.The ‘regular’ Senna has gone through some wild changes to make the GTR the fastest McLaren ever, aside from their Formula 1 cars. Let’s start with that rear wing.“Compared to the standard McLaren Senna wing fitted to the 2018 GTR concept, the wing of the McLaren Senna GTR has been reprofiled and relocated,” says McLaren. Translation: It’s bloody huge. Coupled with the extremely aggressive rear diffuser and active aerodynamics, and you get a car with more than 1,000 kilograms of downforce. That’s like putting another Senna GTR on top of your Senna GTR. McLaren says because of the low weight, the extra downforce works at much lower speeds, making the Senna GTR much easier to drive. McLaren wanted to ensure “95 per cent of the performance of the car could be accessed by 95 per cent of drivers.”The interior has also been made lower and wider to get the lowest possible centre of gravity, and McLaren saved 10 kilograms by removing anything that wasn’t required for going fast.Sending it all down the track is a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-litre V8 uptuned to 814 horsepower. The GTR plays the song of its people through rear-exit exhausts, which are lighter than the side-exit units found on the race car. last_img read more
